Academic Entities

Bulgarian Academy of Science (BAS) is the biggest scientific organization in Bulgaria. It is an autonomous state structure which includes research institutes and other independent departments.

By 2009, the BAS includes 69 research institutes and central laboratories, and 11 specialized departments and central administrations. In 2010 the number of institutions has been reduces to 42 through merges.

The BAS leads researches in almost all human knowledge: mathematical, physical, geological, chemical, biological, engineering, humanity and social science.
